Glow In The Dark Football
Glow In The Dark Football
Positive Youth Foundation is a Coventry based charity working with young people and organisations to raise aspirations and outcomes. They held a number of events organised by young people as part of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Gen22 project, which provided an opportunity for young people from the West Midlands to gain employability boosting opportunities.
One of these events attempted to gather young people from a wide variety of backgrounds together for a football match. In order to grab the attention of potential players they decided to play a tournament in the dark. They challenged the No Class team to capture the event and create a film that reflected the positive, enthusiastic and supportive nature of the group.
We knew that capturing the games in pitch black would be a huge challenge and in order to show the players at their best we would somehow need to introduce some light for our cameras. Fortunately the No Class team have a great deal of experience in shooting low-light performances and events and so we worked with Positive Youth Foundation to find some great workarounds and ensure that the night looked as spectacular as possible. We fitted the teams out in colourful LED vests and lit the 5-a-side pitch with neon rope lights, versatile stringlights and 16 Astera Titan LED tube lights. We capped all this off with a UV glow-in-the-dark football before joining the action on the pitch with our nimble gimbal following the action (while dodging the ball!)
