Meet the Makers: Halima Cassell

Meet the Makers: Halima Cassell

Halima Cassell, a celebrated British sculptor and ceramicist, uses bold geometric shapes and recurrent patterns to create the most beautiful work. This was showcased by Glyndebourne in her first exhibition after receiving her MBE.

It was important for Glyndebourne to provide their audience with a deeper insight into work within the grounds of the opera house to show the craftsmanship involved with the production of each lovingly shaped piece.

To delve into Halima’s beautiful work, we created a short documentary film which showcased the interplay between light and shape looking closely at both the finished pieces and works in progress. During her interview, Halima played an essential role in describing the development of her process, allowing us to understand how her technique has been shaped over time.

Joining Halima both on site at Glyndebourne and in her incredible studio setting gave us the opportunity to peek behind the curtain of this unusual technique and provide an exclusive feeling piece of content for the audience.
