Sandford St Martin Awards

 Sandford St Martin Awards

The Sandford St Martin Awards are the UK’s most prestigious broadcast awards for radio, TV and online programmes and content that explore religious, spiritual or ethical themes. The wide range of work selected spans the depth and breadth of TV, Film, Radio and Audio, with submissions from independent production companies, major broadcasters and grassroot community channels. As a meaningful values-driven charity, the Sandford St. Martin Trust believes the media have an increasingly important and challenging role to play in interpreting what happens in the world.

Our aim in providing the video presentation of these awards was to celebrate tolerance, understanding and meaningful storytelling and to create connections between programmakers, commissioners and audiences.

The Sandford St. Martin 2021 Awards was an ambitious live-streamed online ceremony, a hybrid that combined extensive pre-recorded segments with awards chairs and judges with online Zoom conversations and roundtable discussions, hosted by BBC Radio Merseyside presenter Ngunan Adamu.

The following year saw the ceremony return to an in-person event at Christ Church Spitalfields, where we provided the video presentation and AV support. We recorded short zoom interviews with every shortlisted entrant and combined these with carefully selected material from the piece to introduce it on the night, whilst also making short films for Trustees’ Award winners Rukhshana Media and Sir Lenny Henry. These pre-recorded elements were combined with live cameras, rousing music and slick motion graphics to create an elegant, high-end and unforgettable evening.
